When you first start playing Clash of Clans, you’ll see that there are some decorations lying around. These could be anything from a small tree to a large castle tower or even an entire village.
Decorations are usually found inside buildings. When you build them, you will get Builder Value Pack (BVP) which is basically money for free. There are also some other ways to earn BVP such as completing achievements, winning games and buying gems using real life currency.
Supercell has been known to add new decorations every now and then. Some examples include the Dark Forest, the Snowy Mountain, the Ice Castle and the Fireworks Factory.
If you want to know what other types of decorations exist, check out our guide here – https://www.warriorforum.com/threads/what-are-the-decorations-in-clash-of-clans-.134787/. Most of these decorations come with a set of 3 or 4 different versions like the Candy Cane, which comes in red green and white variants.
Traps don’t do much except confuse attackers who stumble upon them. So if you think they might give you an edge against an opponent, consider adding one or two traps into your base before deploying troops.
The best way to decide whether or not to deploy a trap is by observing the enemy’s movement patterns. For example, if they tend to attack at night when visibility is low, you may want to put up some traps since they won’t be able to detect any enemies until they actually reach your base.
Another good thing about traps is that they provide protection for your base. If someone attacks while you’re away, you can just reset all the traps back to normal without worrying about losing anything.
In order to create a trap, simply click on the ‘Trap’ button under the ‘Buildings’ menu.
Clan Wars League (CwL) is the latest addition to Clash of Clans. It allows players to compete against each other in various battles ranging from Clan Castle Raids to Siege Battles.
The most important aspect of CwL is the fact that it offers access to exclusive rewards. These rewards include Battle Tokens, Gems, Gold, Gems, Premium Elixir and Builder Statues among others.
There are three tiers of rewards – Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each tier requires you to complete certain tasks in order to gain access to the next level. Once you finish a task, you’ll receive a reward based on how well you did compared to other players.
For instance, if you win a battle during a Clan War League and rank 1st overall, you’ll receive 2 Battle Tokens and 25 Gems. On the other hand, if you ranked 9th overall, you’ll still receive 5 Battle Tokens and 20 Gems.
In order to purchase items from the Shop, tap on the ‘Shop’ icon located below the minimap. Alternatively, you can go to the ‘More’ section and select ‘Shop’ from the dropdown list.
Once you’ve selected an item, tap on ‘Buy’ to proceed with payment. Note that you cannot pay with Gems unless you own enough Gems to cover the cost of the item.
After you’ve paid for the item, you’ll need to wait for it to arrive at your base. Depending on where you live, delivery times can vary between 24 hours and several days. However, we recommend waiting no longer than 48 hours because once the item arrives, it becomes permanently available. That means you won’t be able to return it after you’ve purchased it.
Note that you cannot cancel orders once you hit ‘Buy’. Also note that items delivered via the Shop take priority over items deployed directly onto the battlefield.
To view the status of your current orders, tap on the ‘My Orders’ Tab located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Troop Placement / Pathfinding
As mentioned earlier, decorations change troop placement and pathfinding. Here’s how it works.
First off, let me tell you why Supercell made the changes. As you probably already know, the main purpose of a base is to protect its owner. But Supercell realized that players were getting attacked with full armies despite having high defense levels. So they decided to make bases look more imposing by placing decorations everywhere possible.
Now let’s talk about how this affects troop placement and pathfinding. Basically, when an attacker approaches a decorated base, he will spend extra time looking for weak points. He will try to find routes through those weak spots instead of attacking head-on. So if you decorate your base properly, you should notice a significant reduction in damage taken.
Let’s say you’ve placed a few small trees near the entrance of your base. An attacker would normally walk straight towards the front door. But seeing those small trees, he’ll choose a route that goes around them. At the same time, his troops will follow him because they are unaware of the new paths created by the trees. This gives you a chance to attack his troops before they enter your base. So keep this in mind when designing your strategy.
Here are some strategies that you can use to maximize the effectiveness of your decorations.
Use clever placement
This is my favorite strategy. I love placing decorations wherever I feel like it. Sometimes I place them on top of buildings, sometimes on the ground, sometimes behind walls etc. You can place them pretty much anywhere except for the center of the map.
So whenever you place a decoration, observe carefully where you plan to place it. Make sure you avoid placing it near buildings, trees, rocks or hills. Try to pick flat terrain that isn’t visible from nearby roads or villages.
Use traps to block entryways
This is another great strategy. If you notice that an attacker tends to enter your base through a specific entrance, you can easily block it with a trap.
For example, if you’ve noticed that your opponents always enter your base through the east gate, you can place a trap along the south wall of the west building. This will prevent them from entering through the east gate.
Another benefit of blocking entrances is that it prevents your opponents from using the same entrance repeatedly. This makes it harder for them to adapt to your tactics.
Hide your troops
Most players prefer attacking undefended bases. So if you hide your troops somewhere safe, your opponents will waste valuable time searching for them.
For example, imagine that you’re defending your base against an attacker equipped with a powerful dragon. If you position your troops along the north side of the town hall, nobody will ever expect them to appear there.
Use the terrain to your advantage
Sometimes you can use the
